Frank Duff Audio

Our spiritual director, Fr. Hugh Gillespie, SMM, discovered a set of cassette tapes among the archival resources at the Center for the Association of Mary, Queen of All Hearts.  The 3 tapes contained recordings made on the occasion of Frank Duff’s visit to the Center of the Association.  Thanks to the hard work of Fr. Pete D’Abele, SMM,  the audio from the tapes, which were in bad condition, has been recovered and converted into a digital format.  We are pleased to make these recordings, which are a valuable part of the Legion’s historic and spiritual patrimony, available here.

Tape 01- Remarks to the Association of Mary, Queen of All Hearts

This is the first of three tapes that were made on the occasion of the visit of the Servant of God Frank Duff, the founder of the Legion of Mary, to the center of the Confraternity of Mary, Queen of All Hearts, in Bay Shore, NY. Fr. Roger Charest, Fr. Francis Setzer and Fr. Francis Tomai of the Company of Mary (de Montfort Fathers) welcome Mr. Duff and present him with a first-class relic of St. Louis de Montfort. Mr Duff then shares the story of his original encounter with and eventual coming to understand and appreciate the meaning of Fr. de Montfort’s classic work, The Treatise upon True Devotion to the Holy Virgin. He then recounts the beginnings of the Legion of Mary. Mr. Duff concludes his remarks with an address to the priests of the Company of Mary.

The original recording of this first tape was in very bad shape and it took considerable effort to render the audio to the present, admittedly not very high, quality.

Tape 02 – Address to Personnel of the Diocese of Rockville Center (part 1)

This is the second of three tapes that were made on the occasion of the visit of the Servant of God Frank Duff, the founder of the Legion of Mary, to the center of the Confraternity of Mary, Queen of All Hearts, in Bay Shore, NY. This recording was made on the occasion of an evening address before the Bishop of Rockville Center, NY, and a number of clergy as well as numerous Legionaries from the Diocese of Rockville Center and the surrounding areas.

This is the first part of that address.

Tape 03 – Address to Personnel of the Diocese of Rockville Center (part 2)

This is the third of three tapes that were made on the occasion of the visit of the Servant of God Frank Duff, the founder of the Legion of Mary, to the center of the Confraternity of Mary, Queen of All Hearts, in Bay Shore, NY. This recording was made on the occasion of an evening address before the Bishop of Rockville Center, NY, and a number of clergy as well as numerous Legionaries from the Diocese of Rockville Center and the surrounding areas.
