During the 196th meeting of the Regina Cordium praesidium which was held at The Montfort Spiritual Center of Bay Shore, NY; the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary were prayed. The Spiritual Reading was taken from the Handbook page 39-40, Chapter 6 titled: The Duty of Legionaries towards Mary. The Allocutio was read by Teresa from Theology of the Apostolate of The Legion of Mary by Leon Joseph Cardinal Suenens page 41-43 titled: Union With Mary and Charity. In this section, Cardinal Suenens tells us that Marian charity denotes a special way of practicing charity. This special way of practicing charity is due to our union with Mary. Thus, Legionaries must have refinements of tenderness or what the Handbook calls “sweet reverence.” As soon as union with Mary has taken root in a soul, it develops a deeper and more personal love for all people than it ever knew before. Therefore, the souls in union with Mary are able to foresee unacknowledged troubles. Let us remember that in every dispute, if we do not provoke our opponents, the Grace of God remains on our side. With this selflessness and tact, we will be able to persuade without offending and develop respect for others which is really an extension of the reverence of God Himself. Although we cannot allow souls to go their own way in error, we need to use wisdom and choose the right moment and means to strike. We cannot remain silent because there are too many souls at stake!! May we as Legionaries remember to speak to others just as Mary does. She speaks as an inferior to a superior because she sees Jesus Christ in every soul. Let us always remember her charitable example! The Handbook assignment is Chapter 6 to complete Part 5 page 40-41. The Study assignment is to continue working on Living Total Consecration by Father Hugh Gillespie. Our next meeting will be November 22, 2017 at 7PM.
