During the 195th meeting of the Regina Cordium praesidium which was held at The Montfort Spiritual Center of Bay Shore, NY; the Sorrowful Mysteries were prayed. The Spiritual reading was taken from the Handbook page 35-37 chapter 6 titled: The Duty of Legionaries Towards Mary, completion of part 4. The Allocutio was read by Mary from Theology of the Apostolate of The Legion of Mary by Leon Joseph Cardinal Suenens page 39-41 titled: Union With Mary, The Way to Men’s Hearts and Union With Mary and The Apostolate. In this part, Cardinal Suenens tells us that devotion to Mary separated from apostolic work bears no fruit. True Devotion as understood by St. Louis De Montfort will sanctify our actions thus making them apostolic and fruitful. When True Devotion combines with action, it invigorates the apostolate and works are successful. Let us remember that we as Legionaries are doing apostolic work. This means we are trying to help Christ grow in our brothers and sisters. We are carrying on the work of Mary, herself. This is why union with Mary is so absolutely necessary. As mentioned in the Handbook, “efforts not under Mary’s presidency are like oil without lamps.” Mary is with us in all our works but she needs our footsteps, our words, and our weariness for our work to be successful. The Handbook assignment is Chapter 6 part 5 page 37 to bottom of page 38. Our Study assignment is to continue our work with Living Total Consecration by Father Hugh Gillespie. Our next meeting will be November 8, 2017 at 7PM.
