During the 182nd meeting of the Regina Cordium praesidium which was held at The Montfort Spiritual Center of Bay Shore; The Sorrowful Mysteries were prayed. The Spiritual reading was taken from the Handbook page 15-17, Chapter 4 titled: Legionary Service, Part 5 titled: Must finish the race. The Allocutio was read by Mary from Theology of The Apostolate of The Legion of Mary by Leon Joseph Cardinal Suenens page 28-29 titled: Mary, The Reflection of the Divine Heart. In this reading, Cardinal Suenens tells us that Mary is not only the image of The Holy Spirit but she is also an unequaled introduction to the knowledge of the love of God. He says, ” It is not possible to know God as He is for us, so long as we do not recognize her whose mission it is to draw us ever closer to His love.” He reminds us that the saints loved her with all the fervor they felt for God and they were not mistaken! Sinners grasp her motherly hands as their last hope for salvation. Sometimes it can be difficult to pray the Our Father honestly because it contains phrases that call for heroism such as, ” Thy will be done” and ” Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.” Let us remember that nothing is lost as long as one Hail Mary can be said! The ten Hail Marys in each of the decades of the Rosary lead us in preparation to say with and in Mary, the Our Fathers in a more pious manner. Let us pray that we will accept Mary as our mother so we may have a greater understanding of God. The Handbook assignment is page 17-20, Chapter 5 titled: The Devotional Outlook of The Legion, parts 1-2. Our next meeting will be August 16, 2017 at 7PM.
