During the 171st meeting of the Regina Cordium praesidium which was held at The Montfort Spiritual Center of Bay Shore, NY; the Glorious Mysteries were prayed. The Spiritual reading was taken from the Handbook page 338-340 Appendix 3, titled: Extracts From the Code of Canon Law on the Obligations and Rights of the Lay Members of Christ’s Faithful. The Allocutio was read from The Theology of the Apostolate of The Legion of Mary by Leon Joseph Cardinal Suenens titled: 2. The Faithfulness of the Alliance page 12-15 concerning the union of The Holy Spirit and Mary. God’s plan is that she is both Mother of God and all of us as well through the action of The Holy Spirit. We need to meditate on the words of Blessed Pius X in his encyclical titled: Ad Diem Illum(Feb. 2, 1904), “In the chaste womb of the Virgin when Jesus took mortal flesh, He took to Himself also a spiritual body formed of all those who were to believe in Him; and it can be said that, carrying Jesus in her womb, Mary carried also all those whose lives were to be included in His life.” It follows then that Mary is not only the Mother of Jesus (the Head), but Mother to all of us who make up the Body of Christ. This is the universal motherhood of Mary which has its roots in the Incarnation. Mary’s big YES to God secured for us the Redemption because Jesus was born both priest and victim of the redemptive sacrifice. He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Due to Mary’s cooperation with Jesus, we are transmitted to a divine, eternal life which makes us members of Christ and children of God. Let us therefore remember and honor the union of The Holy Spirit and Our Blessed Mother because Mary is but a shadow without The Holy Spirit and The Holy Spirit without Mary is often a remote and inaccessible God who is consequently ignored. The Handbook assignment is Appendix 4 titled: The Roman Legion page 340-342. Our next meeting is May 31, 2017 at 7PM.
