During the 158th Meeting of the Regina Cordium praesidium which was held at The Montfort Spiritual Center of Bay Shore, NY: the Sorrowful Mysteries were prayed. The Spiritual reading was taken from the Handbook page 313-314 Chapter 40 titled: Go Preach the Gospel part 4 titled: The Seeking of Conversions to the Church (paragraphs 1-3). The Allocutio was read by Terri from Inside The Legion of Mary by Father Francis J. Peffley page 188-189 titled: A Special but Not Necessary Gift and a second section titled: A Future Blessing. The first title concerns how belonging to the Legion seems to foster living longer lives. Father Peffley mentions some Legionaries who were in their nineties and still doing door to door assignments. He also mentions that Frank Duff, the founder of the Legion, was still riding his bicycle at the age of 91. Another Legionary, Father Aedan McGrath, who was the official Legion visitor to the Far East, was still active at 95 but looked to be around 75. Father Peffley also reminds us that whenever we bring back sinners, the unchurched, or lax or lapsed Catholics to the practice of the faith; we not only save their souls but also our own as well. This is stated in The Letter of James, Chapter 5, verse 19. “… whoever brings back a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins!” Let us strive to keep up the good works of the Legion of Mary for there are many blessings to be bestowed on us all! The Handbook assignment is Chapter 40 page 314-315, paragraphs 4-6. Our study assignment is to continue outlining The Preparation for The Total Consecration. Our next meeting will be March 1, 2017 at 7PM.
