Weekly Meeting September 28, 2016

During the 137th meeting of the Regina Cordium praesidium which was held at The Montfort Spiritual Center of Bay Shore, NY; the Luminous Mysteries were prayed.  The Spiritual reading was taken from the Handbook page 288-289, Chapter 39 part 5 titled:  Active work Must be Done.  The Allocutio was read by Terri from Inside The Legion of Mary by Francis J. Peffley page 146-148 titled:  The Object of The Legion.  When we are asked what The Legion of Mary is, we should answer by saying,  ” The Legion is my expression of the Catholic vocation,” or “The Legion is my way to holiness!”  This kind of answer gets attention and lets the inquirer know the purpose of the Legion and also discloses the purpose of life which is to be holy.  Being holy means being happy which is why God created us!  He wants to share His happiness with us.  All of nature gives glory to God by its very existence naturally, but people are called to glorify God supernaturally as well.  When we follow His commandments and love God and neighbor,  we are fulfilling our vocation or destiny.  The holier we are, the more we glorify God.  The saints are great examples for us to follow.  They have fulfilled their true destiny which is to get to heaven, to be like Christ, and to be a saint.  The more a person is Christ-like, the more glory is given to our heavenly Father.  When we as Legionaries are doing apostolic work expected of us in our membership, we are fulfilling our vocation.  May we always try our best to be holy!!  The Handbook assignment is to read page 289 from Chapter 39 titled:  Cardinal Points of The Legion Apostolate part 6 ( Control of the Work by the Praesidium).  Our next meeting will be October 5, 2016 at 7PM.
